For those logging on new, this blog helped me share with a Tanvir's friends and relatives, news of her care and treatment in the face of cancer secondaries. I stopped uploading soon after Tanvir Iqbal, Speech Therapist and Spaecial Education Consultant, succubed to the maignancy and its treatment and passed away on 19 June 2006 I am 52, female, Indian and bipolar. After two decades of living with mental illness and suffering, emotionally, physically and socially, today, I live on like a cat who has had her eight chances to affirm that after much hitting, and mostly missing I'm on a medical cocktail has finally worked worked to restore the balance called normal. Medication is lifelong but I can today share an affirmation and celebration of life with bipolar. Tanvir rebuilt my life and gave us a place in the Sun. I haven't seen/met Tanvir recently. And I thought, that's because my visits to 'Sudarshan' have been rather infrequent. So, it was difficult for me to image her post-chimo, or understand how serious her cancer was. Now, it is nearly impossible for me to believe that I won't see her again, EVER! It will take some time to sink in. But it will take me longer to stop expecting to see her at 'Sudarshan' and exchanging a cheerful 'hi'.

Thank you, Buchamma, for letting me read your jottings. You are right about our community finding ways to reconnect and pick up dropped threads. But for you I should never have met Tanvir and that would have been a huge, if completely unrecognized, loss. You will know what I mean about the way Tanvir worked with me to encourage, engage, and inspire me. She has left me with much to treasure and cherish. She opened a doorway into aspects of me that I could never have found myself.
I shall send you the notes I referred to in my last note to Tanvir.
You are very kind to write to me when you are grieving.
